About ATC program

UND’s ATC program is incorporated into the best-known, most advanced aviation curriculum on any university campus in the world. The ATC curriculum is designed to graduate students ready for assignment with the FAA.

UND Aerospace offers more advanced ATC facilities than any other university. The ATC simulation lab features Virtual Controller radar simulators, developed and marketed by UND Aerospace to meet rigorous training requirements. Students receive classroom training from outstanding faculty with actual ATC experience with our simulator environments in completely integrated systems.

If you require ab initio ICAO training or advanced training that refreshes the skills of previously qualified controllers, we also offer customizable ICAO ATC training curriculum to meet your needs. Our simulators offer real-world training scenarios capable of having an aircraft depart one of our airports, contact departure and proceed into the enroute environment... in one completely integrated system.

  • 360-degree Tower Simulator with 4 additional radar positions
  • 225-degree Tower Simulator with voice recognition and 9 radar positions
  • 32 position Radar Simulation System with voice recognition ATCoach®, capable of simulating both terminal and enroute radar systems

Our equipment offers life-like visuals, unmatched voice recognition, and comprehensive weather and environmental sound effects. In addition to having state-of-the-art facilities, UND Aerospace faculty members have outstanding credentials and are widely recognized for their innovative contributions in curriculum development, air traffic control training and instructional technology. We work with clients from a variety of countries including: Russia, China, Norway, and the United States.
