TAC (Technical Aviation Communication)
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has formally required all airline
pilots and air traffic controllers to gain level 4 English language proficiency.
This requirement is designed to provide additional safety for passengers and pilots,
and must be reached by March 5, 2008.
In order to accommodate its international students, UND Aerospace has developed
its own Technical Aviation Communication (TAC) software system. It is a tool designed
to assist UND Aerospace students in learning aviation English when English is not their
native language. Comprised of 15 lessons, it teaches students a broad range of
aviation terms and helps provide a safe environment for their flight training.
