Technical Aviation Communication
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has formally required all airline pilots and air traffic controllers to gain level 4 English language proficiency. This requirement is designed to provide additional safety for passengers and pilots, and must be reached by March 5, 2008.
In order to accommodate its international students, UND Aerospace is developing its own Technical Aviation Communication (TAC) software system. It is a tool designed to assist UND Aerospace students learn aviation English when English is not their native language. Comprised of 15 lessons, it will teach students a broad range of aviation terms and help provide a safe environment for their flight training.
